Because there’s over a trillion phages on the planet, we are able to bioengineer gas sensors for any gas you can imagine. Our growing list of calibrated gases currently include ammonia, benzene, ethanol, formaldehyde, toluene, xylene. Soon to be included are ethane, methane, tert-butylthiol, tetrahydrothiophene, trinitrotoluene. But the options are endless.

Calyx’s proprietary chips are coated with bundles of calibrated phages sensitive to a specific gas. When gas is present, these bundles swell, scattering light in highly consistent and measurable patterns. Our technology also allows our sensors to be 500x more sensitive than conventional technologies, yielding high specificity and accuracy.
